1st Bangor continued their impressive start to their league campaign with an emphatic 6-0 victory of Kilroot at the Drome on Tuesday night.
1st Bangor despite having a few boys missing through injury, suspension and even university exams, started brightly and didn't let up on Kilroot throughout the 90 minutes.
While each and every player in the 1st Bangor team played well special mentions must go to Jamie Bryson, Ryan Oliver and Aaron Caldwell who literally tore Kilroot apart in the first half. The first goal was perfect evidence of this with Jamie Bryson torturing the Kilroot left back before flighting a perfect ball for Ryan Oliver to nod home at the back post.
It was Jamie again who provided the second, this time with a pinpoint corner finding Diarmuid McPhillips who powered his header home from 6 yards to make it 2-0. The third wasn't far behind, George Chelariu picking up the ball in the centre of the park, beating a player then firing it low into the bottom left hand corner.
1st Bangor weren't finished there, Ryan Oliver dispossessing the Kilroot centre half in the Kilroot penalty area then slotting calmly home under the advancing keeper. 4-0 at half time to 1st Bangor.
If the first half was a lesson in dynamic attacking football, the second was all about possession with 1st Bangor completely controlling possession and spreading the play much to the frustration of the hardworking Kilroot side.
With the 1st Bangor back four, plus Carl O'Neill making his debut as keeper, all looking completely at ease with the ball at their feet, and under no real pressure defensively, it was an imperious performance that earned 1st Bangor their 2nd clean sheet in the opening 3 league fixtures.
There were still goals to come though late in the game. The introduction of Stevie Cairnduff and Chris Scott linking well for the 5th goal with Cairnduff delivering the perfect cross for Scott to beat the keeper to and head home. Johnny Hill, on for Jeff McNamara in centre midfield, finished off the rout, calmly finishing from 6 yards out after a good save from the keeper to deny Stephen McCormick.
